It's been so long since we had a kitten, that I'd almost forgotten how cute those little critters can be! (For those keeping track at home, Fresh Kitty is 16, and Molly Mittens is 10. Looooong time without a kitten, right?)
Meet Olive.
Now, now, don't get snarky. I know Olive isn't a kitten. While she's still pretty young herself, Olive recently had kittens. Olive was pregnant when she was adopted, so her new family prepared & watched carefully as the big day approached. Sadly, the first four kittens that Olive birthed were not healthy. After an emergency trip to the vet and a c-section, Olive gave birth to "the boy who lived" a.k.a. Jack. Jack is simply adorable. But don't just take my word for it...
Don't you just love his eyebrows?
Little sibling-less Jack needed someone to snuggle with, so his human momma got him a little buddy. Jack loves to snuggle & sleep with his puppy, especially after a snack.
Pretty soon Jack will be big enough to venture out into the rest of the house, and play with his auntie Hazel Mae. Doesn't she have the prettiest eyes?

What is it about those wrinkly faces that's so endearing? Baby Deana, at eight weeks old, is a real bloodhound beauty. Her (human) mom breeds show dogs, and Deana's a third-generation gem. Check out their site at Bayside Bloodhounds.
Deana's (canine) mom Sara is so excited to have a new playmate!
While he's a little camera-shy, Deana's uncle Riley came to see what we were up to in his yard. What a great bloodhound face!
And finally, how could I resist sharing this one. Sara's mom Capri wasn't quite as playful with her as Sara is with Deana. So Sara had to learn to amuse herself. One favorite activity -- the slide! She goes up the ladder by herself and then comes flying down. She's so funny!

Little Miss Lola is still just a wee puppy, and she's very very licky. But she'll grow out of it soon, and her family is SO happy to have found her. She's another adoption success from the North Shore Animal Shelter. Lola is a Jack Russell terrier mix from Puerto Rico and she's just a darling. She's a happy pup, very well-behaved, and ten pounds worth of fun! And did I mention cute? Seriously cute.
This little girl just loves her mama. Can't wait to see you again, Miss Lola!

With two cats and two dogs, I thought we had a pretty lively little gang here. But Vicki & Mike have got us beat by a country mile! Four dogs, four cats, two horses, and a precious baby girl, all on a beautiful little farm with lots of raised planting beds, fruit trees, and flowers. Ahh, heavenly.
Rump Roast is a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Terrier cross. He has a natural mohawk!
This painted lady is my new BFF. She didn't want her rubs & sweet talk to end, so it was a bit of a challenge, but I loved every minute.
Sweet baby N in her antique chicken rocker, don't you wish you had one, too?

Had a great time meeting Chance and his people at the Arboretum! Chance is a city dog & he was very excited about all the grass & trees.
His momma made him a great collar from an old belt & some studs. Chance is stylin'!
And he's very funny. This is his "bang bang you're dead" trick, what a smart boy.
All that modeling makes for a thirsty dog. Good thing Chance knows how to use a bubbler :)

Irie is a fun & frisky Australian Shepherd with stunning ice-blue eyes. Her mom works at Polka Dog Bakery, one of our favorite stores! Polka Dog features wonderful treats (Martha & Gus are partial to chicken chips) as well as food, gear, and toys. We love both locations: the original South End shop as well as the new one in Jamaica Plain.

It's such a joy to watch families grow. I recently visited Clare & Neil to meet their sweet little girl, and to photograph her just like we did with her older brother in 2008. Fun!
She's so happy with her tummy full of milk.
But not so sure about the big camera!
She's got some of those cute baby toes that I love so much!
Can't wait to work on her baby book layout, it's going to be SO adorable.

Newborn babies have the cutest little fingers & toes, don't they? Baby H was 12 days old in these photos, just so cute & squeezable! While I don't often shoot baby portraits these days, I had a wonderful time meeting baby H, the daughter of my old friend (and former roommate) Mary. So happy we reconnected & that I can give Mary & Mark images of their daughter to cherish forever :)

It's dangerous to work with puppies...so dangerous because it makes you want to get one of your own! Mr. Norman was no exception. At five months, he's a bundle of bully energy, at least for a few minutes at a time. Norman had an ear cocked for his buddy Fenway in the next yard over, but I can't look at this shot without thinking, "Squirrel!" (Can you tell I saw Up recently?)
Norman loves to play ball. Capital-L loves it! We caught him in hot pursuit.
After a few rounds, Norman got very tired. But he never lost track of his ball!
Even his bum is cute :)
We went inside to cool down, and Norman posed for a few 'sitting pretty' shots on the couch...
...until he got distracted by a tasty pillow.
